Ukraine: Violence against civilians in Kiev
Materials from the SBU since the beginning of the year 75 people received court sentences for spreading photos and videos of enemy shelling. Since the beginning of 2026, based on materials from the Security Service of Ukraine, 75 citizens of our state have received court sentences for publishing photos and videos that recorded the placement and movement of the Defense Forces, including the location and operation of air defense, as well as the results of damage to ground targets and air targets. SBU employees systematically monitor such cases and bring the authors of such posts to justice. For example, over the past week, the Security Service exposed three local residents in Kyiv who disclosed air defense positions. Currently, they are suspects under Art. 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (unauthorized dissemination of information about the Armed Forces of Ukraine or other military formations). They face up to 8 years in prison. The SBU emphasizes that unauthorized dissemination of information about geolocation, combat operations of the Armed Forces, and consequences of enemy shelling not only helps the enemy prepare and adjust further strikes but also provides Russian propaganda with new opportunities to work against our state. The Security Service of Ukraine urges citizens not to film and distribute photos and videos of enemy attacks.
