Russia: Strategic developments in Moscow
The Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation has developed a new procedure for mandatory medical examination of drivers, which is expected to come into force on March 1, 2027. Medical certificates are planned to be issued electronically and transmitted to the Ministry of Internal Affairs through state information systems. If signs of diseases or conditions are detected during a medical examination or treatment that may be a contraindication or restriction for driving, the driver will be sent for additional examination or treatment. If the diagnosis is confirmed, the driver will be notified within one day via Gosuslugi about the need to undergo an unscheduled mandatory medical examination within three months. If desired, the conclusion and notification can also be obtained on paper.
