China's Special Envoy for Asian Affairs, Deng Xijun, representing the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, spoke at the 11th anniversary ceremony of the signing of the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA), urging ethnic minority groups to seek advanced models of self-governance. China, which is involved in the armed conflict within Myanmar, also stated that it has helped achieve ceasefire agreements among ethnic armed groups, thereby helping to resolve and bring stability to the situation in northern Myanmar. While China hosts ceasefire talks between the military and ethnic armed groups, this call for considering new models of advanced autonomy comes at a time when armed groups that have seized significant territory from the military following Operation 1027, which caused the military to lose much of its territory, are calling for increased recognition of states and autonomous regions. China will continue to maintain a fair stance and provide necessary assistance for Myanmar's peace process in accordance with the wishes and expectations of the relevant organizations in Myanmar, he said. He expressed hope that both sides will implement ceasefire agreements and find suitable solutions through negotiations, and that China is ready to play a constructive role. Furthermore, he stated that China is ready to cooperate with Myanmar to implement important agreements reached by the leaders of the two countries, to promote key projects under the economic corridor with security assurances, to enhance high-quality regional and route cooperation, to deepen efforts to build a China-Myanmar community of shared future, and to bring better benefits to the people of both countries.
