Russia: Protests in Sochi
Employees of 'Pyaterochka' were fired from the store after they spoke about price increases. Two bloggers, Svetlana Izhelenko and Alisa Kunyashova, were fired from the 'Pyaterochka' store in Sochi after the girls shot a video about price increases. The girls told about this on Instagram, '7x7' noticed. On September 21, Izhelenko and Kunyashova shot a reels in which they said that the day after the elections, prices for products increased by 20-30 rubles. "We have been changing price tags all morning today in shock. The elections are over, now almost all products cost 20-30 rubles more," Izhelenko said in the video, without mentioning the store's name. The video gained over 5.5 million views. A few days later, Izhelenko published a new video in which she said that in the end she and her friend were fired. "The company was so scared that a blogger girl could ruin the company's reputation. As if I changed these price tags. <...> Do you understand the absurdity of the situation? To fire two girls from work because of the phrase 'Elections are over - prices have risen'," Izhelenko said.
