Uzbekistan: Event in Tashkent
The press secretary of the president, Sherzod Asadov, explained the essence of the largest education reform in Uzbekistan in recent years. The Ministry of Education and Science will be responsible for the operation of educational institutions, setting requirements, conducting accreditation and licensing; the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Education will develop educational programs, manuals and methodological materials, implement them, track results and improve them considering identified deficiencies; the Presidential Administration and a special working group within it will review the ministry's working processes and will determine the overall strategy of the reform; in higher education, drastic intervention of the state is planned, expanding the autonomy of universities and creating opportunities for the non-state sector.
