United States: Strategic developments in US Navy Aircraft Carrier

An ‘Interceptor’ Version of the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird Almost Flew from US Navy Aircraft Carrier Lockheed once sketched a carrier-based Blackbird. The A-12CB would have left an aircraft carrier deck with Rocketdyne boosters borrowed from the F-104G zero-length-launch program, 130,000 pounds of thrust for 7.9 seconds on top of the steam catapult, then dropped the motors once airborne.
