Russia: Strategic developments in Russia
New AI capabilities are driving a new wave of digitalization, believes SIBUR's Director of Digital and Information Technologies Anton Rubenchik. According to him, the main leap occurred not so much in the models themselves, but in the tools that give them memory, access to systems, and operating rules. Rubenchik suggests looking beyond the automation of individual operations. If the process is reconfigured, an agent can launch and manage it, involving a human only in exceptional cases. This requires not a single universal AI platform and a queue of requests to IT, but many specialized agents with business owners. Users will be able to create agents for their tasks, and the IT team will integrate them with existing systems. SIBUR has tested this approach, particularly in procurement. An AI agent accelerated the initial verification of supplier proposals by seven times, but to make it work, it was necessary to first describe the rules and exceptions that employees previously followed, relying on experience. This became one of the examples for revising other company processes.
