Russia: Strategic developments in Moscow
In Russia, a 300-page manual "Army of Russia defending the Fatherland" has been issued for 10th-11th grade students for the subject "Fundamentals of Safety and Defense of the Motherland". Journalists of the publication "Mozhem obiasnit" detected propagandist cliches, false statements about Ukraine and detailed instructions on joining the military service in it. In the section on contract service, "10 steps to become a contract soldier" are listed. At the same time, part of the requirements are outdated: for example, the age limit of 40 years was abolished back in 2022. Alternative civil service is mentioned only in assignments for independent information search. The authors of the manual spread rumors about Ukraine: they state that Volodymyr Zelenskyy allegedly wanted to create nuclear weapons, and the Armed Forces of Ukraine were preparing an attack on Donbas and Crimea. The manual also mentions the fictitious "massive burning of Russian books" and the "Moskal Blood" cocktail as proof of alleged Russophobia. These statements are not supported by facts. The Russian army is depicted in the textbook as fighting "honestly" and protecting civilians, while Ukraine is accused of treachery. At the same time, the authors omit the destruction of Ukrainian cities from Russian shelling and the problems of supplying Russian military personnel. Among "modern" weapons, the T-14 tank "Armat" is mentioned, which did not become mass-produced, as well as the Mosin rifle of the 1891 model.
