Russia: Strategic developments in Moscow

US Investors Close to Buying Lukoil’s Foreign Assets, Sources Tell Reuters A group of investors led by US billionaire Todd Boehly is allegedly close to taking over Russian oil giant Lukoil’s oil fields, refineries and gas stations outside Russia, Reuters reported on Tuesday, Nov. 3. Instead of paying with cash, a bank working for the group purportedly bought frozen Lukoil shares from Western funds at a steep discount and plans to trade them for the assets. According to Reuters, a deal is expected within weeks. The sale comes as Washington expands economic ties with Moscow, alongside efforts to broker an end to the war.
