Armenia: Strategic developments in Yerevan

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, Artur Poghosyan, considers it necessary to have a separate operational unit within the IC to improve the effectiveness of the criminal process. Poghosyan made this statement at a joint meeting of the standing committees of the National Assembly on state and legal and financial and budgetary issues during a preliminary discussion of the draft state budget for 2027, answering the question of a deputy from the 'Civic Contract' faction Andranik Kocharyan. Kocharyan asked whether there were enough budget funds in accordance with the increase in the volume of investigations and what structural changes could improve the effectiveness of the committee's work. In this context, he also raised the question of the absence of the IC's own operational unit.
