Ghana: Strategic developments in Accra

The Foreign Ministry of Ghana stated that Putin agreed not to recruit citizens of the country into the Russian army. Ghana's Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa stated that Vladimir Putin would ban citizens of the country from joining the Russian army to participate in the war with Ukraine. "Following President Mahama's expressed concern, President Putin stated that citizens of Ghana are no longer allowed to participate in the war with Ukraine. This decision applies to all circumstances, including recruitment bypassing procedures or showing willingness to join voluntarily," — Ablakwa wrote on Facebook following the Russia-Africa Summit. Putin met with Ghana's President John Dramani Mahama at the sidelines of the third Russia-Africa Summit on October 30.
